Fun Fact: There are two types of Great Penguins, Emperor Penguins and King Penguins. Emperor Penguins of the frigid Antarctic with their tuxedo like looks cannot fly in the air but use their wings like flippers to fly underwater at amazing speeds. The Emperor Penguin is only species to breed during the Antarctic winters. Emperor penguins are serially monogamous. King Penguins are the second largest penguin, after the emperor. No other bird has a longer breeding cycle than King Penguins. They take 14 to 16 months to fledge a single chick. In both species the male incubates the egg while the female is at sea.
